Yesterday we visited Journey Early Learning in Gumdale. We provided the centre with two Drum Sing Dance sessions for their Kindergarten classes. The groups were super keen and engaged and prompted a whole bunch of impromptu workshop moments. Sometimes we couldn’t help a giggle with the enthusiastic tiger roars and high squeaking monkey dances.

The groups danced, sung and played their drums with so much excitement. One group enjoyed a dundunba dance circle whilst the second group enjoyed a few djole rhythm ensemble parts on their djembe. Everyone enjoyed the dundun drums, the shekere beats and the fun dance moves of djole rhythm. We had snakes, tigers, monkeys, giraffes and elephants coming into our stories this time.

We all learnt that a djembe is not a bongo! Hooray!! 😉

Our highlight for the day was the Journey Early Learning educators joining in and encouraging the children to express themselves and have loads of fun. When packing up for the day the children delivered handpicked flowers with lots of kind words. Great kids, great educators, great centre at Journey Early Learning Gumdale!
