Well… what a night the student performance was! Once again we had the club rocking, hands clapping and smiles all round.  Such a fantastic venue for what we do.  The Monday night at The Upfront Club is always buzzing with excitement.  Locals and newcomers enjoying food, wine, conversation and always great music from talented musos, just because they love it.  Live, impromptu performances, no expectations, on-the-spot ensembles, solos, duos..fantastic! We indulged in good food, organic Shiraz and then it was on! 18 drums were carted onto the tiny stage and students gathered their nerves and confidence all in one big bag.  The smallest being two, took the front stage with a drum just to fit.  He drummed on cue and smiled for the audience.  The giggles and adorable auditory could be heard over the tribal grooves.  The dundun pulse could be heard streets down, I’m sure.  Everybody cheered, danced and witnessed in delight, the rhythmic African drumming beats that these students played so well. “Some of those students have only been drumming for 10 weeks!”, you heard people say. What a glorious end to a fantastic year.

This was our second student night at the club and we intend on doing it again! See you all for first term back in 2013.  Merry Xmas and Happy holidays 🙂
