New Class Times to Drum and Dance

Tuesday nights are now buzzing with excitement and it is the place to be for fun and fitness on the Sunshine Coast! For those of you that don’t know we have had a few changes to the weekly class schedule. We have jam packed all of the classes into the one night, so that students get to participate in more than one class for the week. Now everyone gets to be a part of the Tuesday night vibe that we have spent so much time building over the years.

To benefit drummers that would like to do some dance for their weekly fitness fix we have now got a beginners/open African dance class starting at 6.30pm. Immediately after the 5.30pm beginners/open African drumming class. Also, for those experienced dancers that would like to stretch their physical fitness and endurance they can now participate in two classes back to back. An excellent way to build strength and style. For both of these options we have created the 8 Class Pass which allows you to have two classes per week!

If you are interested in learning dunduns, you can now join the 5.30pm beginners/open African drumming class and play support duns for the djembe class. This is a structured class and you will be given specific dundun patterns and parts to the weekly rhythm. We can’t recommend enough that dancers take advantage of this opportunity as the more you become acquainted with the dundun parts of any rhythm the better your timing and therefore, your dancing will be! Why not, grab a 8 Class Pass deal and mix and match your classes for the week and try some dundun drumming! It is super fun!!

Foli Kan experienced has transformed with a bunch of students stepping up into the Foli Kan class and beginning to learn performance pieces and new rhythms and breaks. It is super exciting to see students challenging themselves and enjoying the fast paced class that makes up Foli Kan drummers. The performance group also has another exciting focus which is the 7.30pm dancers! These dancers are working on a performance pieces with the drummers and whilst still focusing the fast paced class on learning new and exciting material there will also be performance preparation during and outside of class times. So, in short Foli Kan Ensemble has been transformed with loads of new drummers and dancers and we can’t wait to show you our first performance at Camp Afro Foli! Yay!!
