Whats On Afro Foli Festival July 23

Its new, its huge and it is the place to be this July 23

Hello friends,

We hope you all well, healthy and keeping warm these chilly days and nights. We are dedicating this entire newsletter to the Afro Foli Festival, the huge event we have coming up just around the corner, as in two weeks! We have Bassidi Koné arriving in a week which we are super excited about and we have managed to create an entire festival around his presence ( he’s worth it ;)!!

So, after many long days and nights preparing for the big day, we are now super confident that this festival is going to seriously be soooo much fun. We have it all! African street food, international artists teaching workshops during the day and performing in the evening, cakes, chai, alcohol, free drum jam, a raffle (with some very exciting prizes), African dancers… the list goes on.

The day will kick off at 12pm with Bassidi Koné running workshops. These workshops will run back to back with the African dance workshops with Yenenesh Nigusse who has been in London for the past few years and is back for a short time. Dinner will be served at Homegrown Cafe across the road from about 5pm where you can sit in the beautiful atmosphere of The Lane and eat Authentic African street food cooked by local African women and the Homegrown team. There will be a FREE drum jam on the green whilst you enjoy your delightful meals.

Doors to the Palmwoods Memorial Hall will re-open at 6.30pm and then you are in for some seriously HOT stuff. Everyone will enjoy this show, it is a lineup like you have never seen before!! We have the Foli Kan drumming ensemble and the Muso Foli dance troupe to set the night off.  The Rhythm Culture Showcase with Bassidi Koné, Adama Doumbouya, Mitch Francis, and Nathaniel Combs. There will be dancing, drumming and music that will have you off that chair on the dance floor!! And lastly as the headline act we have Highlife performing with Bassidi Koné as special guest.

You will be absolutely grooved out by the end of this… we promise you! So, get you tickets (there are deals on the website shop), purchase you raffle tickets on the night to go in the draw to win things like, free courses, CD’s, records, and a $400 djembe drum!) Wear shoes that are easy to take off and join us in the celebration of a lifetime!! Check out the articles below to get some information on all of the acts and we will see you all on July 23rd! Yes!!
