Bassidi Kone will return this June/July for a fantastic World Music Tour down the East Coast. Performances and workshops will be held throughout Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast and Byron Bay. Performances will be accompanied by Nathaniel Combs and the Hayden Hack Infusion. Bassidi and his group Bwazan have just released their third album and this will be available for purchase at the listed events. BASSIDI KONÉ a well renowned, versatile percussionist and balafon player of exceptional talent, that gives a skilled, authentic and dynamic voice to his instruments.
Bassidi is of Bobo origin (tribe), whose family originates in a village near Segou, (Mali, West Africa). Coming from a musical (Griot) family, Bassidi played music from the age of 5, taught to him by his father and grandfather.
Bassidi has received numerous awards and achievements for balafon and djembe. Bassidi has released two albums with SAMBA LOLO Recording Productions, Boston, USA . He has independently produced his third album, some of which was recorded at Salif Keita’s studio in Bamako. He will be showcasing this album on this tour. He has worked with other renowned professionals including Grammy Award nominee, Bassekou Kouyaté, Nainy Diabate, Mah Kouyate No 1, Nafi Diabate.
This phenomenal musician is set to arrive in the Sunshine Coast June 27th with exciting performances and workshops in the Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Brisbane and Byron Bay. Bassidi Koné is an incredible performer and a supportive teacher with an infectious smile.
