Another year comes rolling in to the grand finale of NYE.  How huge December becomes, Christmas shopping, final appointments, parties and farewells at schools and kindergartens. No wonder some of us feel like hiding under a rock?! Do we embrace the festive season? Have you put up your tree yet? Is it a grand traditional 3m tall display or is it that half dead pot plant that you have brought inside for some $2 Christmas decorations? To confess we did the latter, but we also decided to start a different sort of Christmas tree tradition. Its not one that you pack away for next year or one that you throw away in the new year, its one that grows and best of all, gives back. A fruit tree! This year its a feijoa tree (being a Kiwi I love feijoas), and after Christmas we will plant it and soon be harvesting feijoas every year. Can’t wait! Giving a little back to Nature, harvesting delicious fruit, and a new tradition that everyone enjoys – sounds like Christmas to me!

Speaking of traditions, what are your family traditions?  And do we really like them? All these first world problems come up every year and it all seems so important. Do we forget amidst all the shopping sprees, what really matters? Have we said thanks for 2014? Thanks for our health? Our children’s health? Our food and fresh water? And even shelter? What did you do in 2014? Have you taken the time to sit back and congratulate yourself on your strength, determination and patience? Lets appreciate what we have now – so a huge thank you to everyone that has come to drumming classes, got ya groove on at the Dance Co-op, bought a drum, or booked a workshop, YOU ARE AWESOME!! – and we will be seeing you in the new year with the real stuff! 🙂
